Robert Frost speculated about the world ending in fire or in ice. Which do you think is likely to end us all: meteorite, global warming, nuclear weapons, zombies, or the superflu?

Zombies!  That's the way I want to go anyways!  I actually have a zombie survival plan, lol.  I'll last a few days, anyways.

As if I don't already have 100+ books on my shelf to read!  Problem is, I get a taste for something and I want all I can find that is good that fits that taste!  I did the zombie obsession, vampires, serial killers...  Right now what I am seeking are any good book recommendations about the end of the world/apocalyptic type stuff.  I've already read Earth Abides (which I thought was duller than dull), 1985 (which I didn't care for the whole government speakese), all of King's end of the world stuff and some of Crichtons.  Also "other world" fits into this, or "alternate universe", such as The Giver series (which I loved even though it's for a younger crowd).  I'm not usually too into supernatural (it has to be very convincing that it could happen for me to like it) but I love gore, fantasy and sci-fi.  So if anyone has any recs for me I would highly appreciate it!  I know, I ask too much.  I'd also be interested in any kind of mysterious disease books, Crichton style, or alien stuff that isn't too trekky (I love alien stuff but hate outer space stuff, go figure).  Okay I am done rambling, I hope someone can help me out here!  I'm reading some short story book about cats that solve mysteries right now and I'm ready to drown the book, so please help!!!!

Okay I'll finally admit it, I've been hooked on the new 90210.  It's been one of my guilty pleasure shows.  Until last night when I realized it's more than that.  My favorite character from day one has been Silver, who is very much her own person and full of personality.  When her and Dixon broke up last episode and she spiraled out of control it reminded me very much of someone else, myself.  I realized then why I liked her as much as I did.  As all the other show's character's speculated as to what was wrong with her; drugs, hormones, drugs- I knew, she was bi-polar.  Everything she went through in last night's epi, her crazy train of thought, reminded me of me.  I think that's the first time I've ever seen manic depression captured so accurately without also focuing on all the negative.  Granted, it was a depressive episode, but in general her personality is always quite manic.  She's very creative, as most of us suffereing from bi-polar are.  It also reminded me of how much I lacked support.  I was jealous as everyone looked for her and tried to help, because when I spiraled out I was treated exactly as Dixon first treated her; like I was a manipulative drama queen who knew exactly what I was doing.  Only by everyone, not just one person.  It sucked.  It still sucks, and only those who suffer from this really get how much.  When you've had people looking at you your whole life like you should control these things and not understandingh you absolutly cannot, it's HARD.
It took me TEN years to find the right combination of meds that worked for ME.  Each person is different.  Very very different.  What works for me might make the next person more suicidal, or too numb.  I've been there with ever medication before the ones I'm on now.  I've been doing "great" for the last few years, but sometimes, I admit, I miss those crazy ups.  I don't miss the downs at all, but I miss the mania like crazy.

So anyways, by the time last night's epi finished, I was in tears.  My husband has been on me to quit my meds because we are so broke right now, but even he doesn't get it until I quit them.  I have gone before without them for a few days, when I didn't have the money to refill my prescription, and that quickly, I get that crazy.  I wish I didn't need them, but the truth is I do.  As long as I want to live I do (I get crazy suicidal off them) and as long as I'm on them I want to live.  So anyways, that's my randomness for today.  And not to exclude anyone with the "unless you're bi-polar you just don't know" thing.  It's just true but it's a club no one wants to be a part of!

What news story have you heard or read lately that made you really angry? What about one that made you really happy?

Well, I guess I get angry at all the judgement passed on "Octo-mom".  I don't like that nn but I can't spell her name without looking it up, so...  I just feel like she has gotten a lot of bad publicity, and I'm not saying she doesn't bring some of it on, but come on people.  If the media ever poked around your life I'm sure it'd make you out to be a nut too!  Who the hell are we to decide she should have her kids taken away?  Granted, 14's a lot, and maybe she went about having them the wrong way, but it's not for US to decide.  She seems to love them very much and have enough help to take care of them, so why the hell should they be taken away?  There have been NO signs/report of abuse or neglect, END OF STORY.  It's none of our business and I feel bad for her having everyone scrtuinize her all the time.  I'm sure she has her issues, we ALL do, but she doesn't seem like a bad person to me, and I think I have a general good feeling about people.  Leave her alone, folks!

idk about one that's made me happy lately, but I will say I am impressed with Obama and every time I hear news about him I find myself smiling.  As for the special Olympics thing, sure it was "uncalled" for, but we've all said uncalled for things.  He's still adjusting to being in the spotlight all the time and he did apologize for it, so I don't think it was a big deal.  He didn't mean it as an insult.

That's all my ramblings for now.

Comment to this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given (Subjects given to me by evilinsanemonkey)

Big Bang Theory- My newest, favorite comedy, this one makes me LOL everytime I watch it.  The geeky geniuses are nothing short of hilarious, and their neighbor, the cute girl who works at the cheesecake factory, acts as the viewer's normal eyes.  Sheldon is my favorite character.  He is neurotic, brilliant, and analytical to the death.  Favorite comedy EVER.

Wilson/Cameron - Okay not anyone's typical ship, but I can see the potential here.  Both characters are kind and caring to the core, both have lost partners close to them that they loved, and both see the best in others.  Plus they both love and accept House, flaws and all.  If these two ever hook up it would be a perfect match.  Maybe too perfect, bringing a whole new fun array of drama.

Reid - I love Criminal Minds to the core, mainly for all the fun profiling and centering around serial killers (a little fetish of mine).  But Agent Spencer Reid, a young genius profiler, is the cutest geek ever.  He is brilliant and adorable and I could eat him up.  I can never get enough Spencer Reid!

Zombies- I haven't always loved zombies.  In fact, I don't so much love zombies as much as I love watching people deal with the zombie scenario.  I like the classic slow-moving zombie, that gives the humans a chance since they are always outnumbered and smart zombies will never make any sense to me.  However, I kinda like it when the zombies win.  Evil I am.  My favorite zombie movie ever has to be Land of the Dead.  It's an "after the zombie war" kind of movie, where survivors have created a city secure from zombies.  For awhile anyways.  Mwahahaha.

Horror-Yeah, I pretty much love horror.  But not that campy, gory, b-rated stuff.  I like smart horror.  I love gore too, but it has to look real.  Like in Saw, or Final Destination.  The sicker, the better.  I'm just that morbid!
